we climbed a mountain!

mt roberts from across the channel on a sunny day

i never thought i'd do it.

if you've ever been hiking with me, you'll know that i HATE going uphill. it's just not for me.

i preferr downhill. or even just a nice horizonal direction. even some easy slopes are ok. but hardcore, kick your butt uphill? no thanks.

so when we suddenly found ourselves with the day off on monday, what did we do?

we climbed mt roberts.

and since we'd already left the house for work with our lunches packed prepared to be outside all day, we just headed on over to the mountain, i was wearing galoshes. so . . . i hiked 3 miles and gained over 3,000 feet in elevation. in galoshes.

how hardcore is that?

it took us a while (mostly because of me and my not pacing myself enough) and i almost gave up and almost cried a few times . . . but we made it to the top! and it was worth it.

the photos are still on my camera . . . lucky you.

Come back, we miss you! Although I can certainly understand why you'd use the word "exiled" after having been in Portland....If you see the Altarboys playing a show (should you get back to stumptown), tell the singer (my brother) to get his sorry butt out here. then give him a hug. thanks.
